Every council car park's current tariff, from £3.40 all day at Brooklands to £17.00 at Montague Centre. Marine Crescent is still free for four hours.
Worthing Borough Council put up its car park charges on 24 August 2026. Its own car parks page is still headed “Prices correct as at 16th May 2025”, with the new figures shown in brackets, which is easy to misread. The prices below are the ones you will actually pay today. They are the bracketed figures, and every one of them is checked against the statutory notice of variation the council published on 20 July 2026. (Worthing Borough Council notice of variation, PDF)
What an all-day stay costs
The gap between the cheapest and dearest council car park in Worthing is more than fivefold.
| Car park | Postcode | All day | Charging hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brooklands (Western Road, Brighton Road East and West) | BN15 8RX, BN11 2HP | £3.40 | 8am to 6pm |
| Teville Gate | BN11 1UR | £7.40 | 8am to 6pm |
| Beach House East and West | BN11 2EJ | £9.00 | 6am to 6pm |
| Lyndhurst Road west | BN11 2DB | £10.20 | 6am to 6pm |
| Buckingham Road, High Street and Civic Quarter multi-storeys | BN11 1TH, BN11 1LY, BN11 1HS | £13.40 | 6am to 10pm, Mon to Sat |
| Montague Centre, Liverpool Gardens | BN11 1YJ | £17.00 | 6am to 6pm |
Montague Centre is the most expensive all-day park in the town by a clear margin, and it is also one of the smallest. Of its 108 spaces, 57 are reserved for the NHS and only 39 are open to the public.
Brooklands is the outlier at the other end. Three car parks share the same tariff there, on the eastern and southern edges of Brooklands Park, and the night rate is free.
The hourly rates
Buckingham Road, High Street and Civic Quarter multi-storeys, Monday to Saturday, 6am to 10pm, bank holidays included:
- 1 hour £1.55
- 2 hours £3.30
- 3 hours £4.85
- 4 hours £6.40
- 5 hours £7.90
- over 5 hours or all day £13.40
On Sundays the same three sites drop to £1.25 for an hour, £2.50 for two, £3.70 for three, £4.95 for four, and £6.20 for five hours or all day. Between 10pm and 6am, Buckingham Road and High Street are free. Civic Quarter still charges overnight, up to a £3.70 maximum.
Beach House East and West, 6am to 6pm, seven days: £1.55 for an hour, £2.90 for two, £4.35 for three, £5.65 for four, £7.40 for six and £9.00 all day. Overnight, 6pm to 6am, it is £3.60 maximum.
Brooklands, 8am to 6pm, seven days: 95p for 30 minutes, £1.45 for an hour, £2.05 for two, £2.80 for three, and £3.40 for six hours or all day. No charge at night.
Montague Centre, 6am to 6pm: £1.15 for 30 minutes, £1.75 for an hour, £3.60 for two, £5.15 for three, £7.60 for four, £9.50 for six and £17.00 all day. Overnight it caps at £5.05.
Teville Gate, 8am to 6pm: £1.75 for an hour, £3.10 for two, £4.85 for three, £6.40 for four and £7.40 all day. Overnight, 6pm to 8am, it caps at £3.60.
Lyndhurst Road west, by Worthing Hospital, 6am to 6pm: £1.75 for an hour, £3.10 for two, £4.85 for three, £6.40 for four, £7.95 for five and £10.20 all day. The east car park is closed to the public and reserved for NHS permit holders.
All of these are pay on arrival. The multi-storeys dropped their number plate recognition system, so you now enter your registration at the machine or use the MiPermit app, and no ticket is displayed. Every car park has its own MiPermit code on the signs by the machines.
Free parking, and where it is not free
Marine Crescent, BN12 4JG, at Goring, is free. It has 53 spaces, two of them disabled bays, and a maximum stay of four hours with no return within two hours on the same calendar day. Season ticket holders are exempt from the limit, and a season ticket there costs £26.90 a year, the cheapest in the borough by a very long way.
The next thing to know is the shape of the on-street zones, because it is unusual and it catches visitors out.
- Zones A, B and C, the town centre and the streets just outside it, are active Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. Zone A pay and display is £2.00 an hour. Zones B and C are £1.90 an hour. (Adur and Worthing Councils)
- Zones D to N, the outer residential zones, are active only from 10am to 11am and again from 2pm to 3pm, Monday to Saturday. During those two hours only residents with permits may park. Outside them the bays are free.
That second rule is the one worth remembering. Two single hours a day is a light-touch control designed to stop all-day commuter parking, and it means most of outer Worthing is free to park in for most of the day. Some streets inside those zones run 9am to 6pm instead, so the roadside sign always wins over the general rule.
Three streets in the outer zones do have pay and display: Christchurch Road at £1.70 an hour, Homefield Road at £1.90 and Railway Approach at £1.20, the cheapest on-street rate near the station. Shelley Road in Zone C has a mix of two-hour bays at the zone rate and four-hour bays at £1.20 for the four hours. Four-hour bays also run on Marine Parade opposite Heene Terrace and at Splashpoint.
Blue badge: free on the street, not in the multi-storeys
This is the trap in Worthing, and the council states it plainly on two different pages.
- On street, a correctly displayed blue badge parks free with no time limit in disabled bays, pay and display bays and limited waiting bays. On single or double yellow lines it is three hours with the clock set, no loading restrictions, not within 10 metres of a junction. (Adur and Worthing Councils)
- In surface car parks, a blue badge parks free in a designated disabled bay for a maximum of three hours. In a standard bay the normal tariff applies.
- In the multi-storeys, parking is chargeable for everyone. There are marked blue badge bays at Buckingham Road, High Street and Civic Quarter, but you pay the standard tariff in them and must display the badge as well.
- In a residents’ zone, a bay with “disabled” painted on the road still needs a valid resident or visitor permit for that zone on top of the badge. A badge alone earns a penalty charge notice.
Blue badges are issued by West Sussex County Council, not the borough, and so are on-street disabled bays outside your home. (West Sussex County Council)
Buckingham Road has 15 disabled spaces, two dementia friendly spaces and seven parent and child spaces. Brooklands Western Road has 20 disabled spaces, the most of any Worthing car park. High Street has only six, and its step-free access is currently restricted by works, so there is no wheelchair route when the lift is out or out of hours.
Resident permits
Permits are digital, bought through MiPermit, and priced by zone. Prices are those the council published as correct at 1 October 2025. (Adur and Worthing Councils)
| Permit | Zones A to C, 12 months | Zones D to N, 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| First resident permit | £63.00 | £35.00 |
| First permit, low emission | £48.00 | £27.00 |
| Second and later permits | £126.00 | £70.00 |
| Second and later, low emission | £95.00 | £53.00 |
| Carer’s permit | £22.00 | £22.00 |
Visitor permits are £6.00 for a book of ten two-hour permits, or 60p each. In Zones A to C there is also a day and week visitor rate of £2.70 and £16.20. A first permit is free to blue badge holders who have no access to a disabled bay.
Applying needs a V5C, a council tax bill from the last three months, a utility bill or bank statement, and an insurance certificate in your name. Some zones have a waiting list, published as a PDF on the council’s permit page, and new developments are often excluded from permit eligibility altogether. Permit queries go to NSL on 0345 680 0189.
Station parking
Worthing station’s car park is run by APCOA, not the council, and it is not covered by any council tariff or season ticket.
- Worthing station, Southcourt Road BN14 7DF: 86 spaces, two disabled, 2.00m height limit. £8.00 Monday to Friday, £7.60 at weekends, £4.10 after 5pm on weekdays. £30.00 a week, £107.90 a month, £899.70 a year. (APCOA)
- West Worthing station, Tarring Road BN11 4SR: 39 spaces, two disabled. £6.00 a day, £3.10 after 5pm, £23.60 a week, £645.20 a year. (APCOA)
A 15p convenience fee is added to every APCOA tariff and daily tickets expire at 4am. Blue badge holders park free at both, which is the opposite of the council’s multi-storey rule.
For a commuter, Teville Gate at £7.40 all day undercuts the station car park by 60p and sits a short walk north of the platforms. Railway Approach on-street at £1.20 an hour is cheaper still for a short stay.
Season tickets
Season tickets are tied to the named car park and cannot be moved between them. Annual rates from 24 August 2026:
- Marine Crescent £26.90
- Brooklands Brighton Road East and West £268.00
- Brooklands Western Road £402.00
- Teville Gate, Lyndhurst Road and Beach House £1,306.60
- Buckingham Road and High Street multi-storeys £1,452.60
- Guildbourne residents, High Street multi-storey, £469.00
The town centre workers and hotel guest permit is £7.25 a day plus a 25p administration charge, valid at High Street and Buckingham Road only, bought in bulk through MiPermit and activated as needed. It beats the £13.40 day rate for anyone staying longer than four hours.
